Role: Vehicle Technician 

Location: Nanpean, Cornwall 

Salary: £33 to £36K

Hours: 7am-7pm a 12-hour shift (with 2 breaks of 30m) over a two-week rotation period, working 7 days out of 14 which includes every other weekend.

The role:

As a Vehicle Technician your work is highly varied over a wide range of Imerys owned equipment including light commercial vehicles, 4 x 4’s, LGVs, trailers, industrial diesel engines, and ancillary equipment covering all aspects of inspection, repair and maintenance activities.

Your experience:

  • Be a time served skilled vehicle technician with experience on “light” commercial vehicles
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an appropriate discipline
  • Have a demonstrated strong focus on safety
  • Be able to work without direct supervision
  • Hold a full clean driving licence
  • Basic Computer Skills - Work order management, reporting in works, material ordering (training would be given)
  • Able to work to documented procedures and O licence requirements (where applicable)
  • Methodical completion of documentation to required standards
  • Have experience in the following or be prepared to learn through training.

What we expect from you:

  • Light commercial vehicle servicing, repair & maintenance to MOT standard
  • LGV servicing, repair & maintenance to O Licence requirements & MOT standard
  • 12/24V electrical system fault diagnosis & repair
  • Diagnosis of vehicle faults using computer based diagnostic equipment
  • Industrial diesel engine servicing, repair & maintenance


The following would be an advantage, not essential:

  • Cat C LGV Licence
  • Fork-lift licence
  • Welding experience
