Sustainability Officer - Nationwide, plus European travel

You will need to have the ability to identify strategic opportunities and be able to lead change through persuasion and consensus. You must be adaptable, have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a highly motivated and innovative approach to work. The key to successful delivery of our sustainability agenda will be strong interpersonal, management and organisational skills. 

Objectives will include:
  • To set our organisational sustainability targets, develop the plans and oversee their delivery 
  • Build strong internal relationships and also with Customers/Suppliers/Trade Associations
  • Develop plans and manage change internally and externally to achieve the Net Zero Carbon targets for 2050 
  • Responsible for ensuring that sustainability is a key consideration in the development of future growth strategies for National Timber Group
  • Develop a suite of KPI’s that accurately track the progress of National Timber Group in achieving its internal sustainability targets and Net Zero Carbon targets for 2050
  • Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually reduce the impact of National Timber Group activities on the environment 
  • Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising 
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keeping up to date with UK, European Union and international regulations and legislation
  • Responsible for carrying out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce National Timber Group’s environmental risks and financial costs
