Location: Remote/Hybrid Manchester office (Mainly Remote)

Injury Practice Area

 

Simpson Millar is currently looking for an experienced Legal Risk Assessor to join our Injury Practice Department. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as you will be responsible for the risk assessment of new enquiries received into the business for the Injury Practice Area. 


You will be a key decision maker in reviewing initial leads, speaking to clients and making investigations into the lead, allowing us to make an informed decision on if the case has reasonable prospects and should be transferred to the Legal Team. 

 

As a Legal Risk Assessor, you will cover all areas of the Injury Practice Area – Clinical Negligence, RTA, ELPL & Military. Meaning you will be interacting with stakeholders from Injury Practice Areas and other areas across the business.


As well as being able:


  • To undertake risk assessments within the Injury Practice Area. 
  • To ensure risk assessments are reviewed for quality and tracked within governance SLAs. 
  • To manage process adherence and communication between the Contact Centre & Injury Practice Area.
  • To support in any required training to ensure business development and training.
  • To support in providing a clear and effective process for capturing risk assessment information.
  • To keep abreast of appropriate legislation
  • Meet appropriate SLAs & governance requirements. 
  • Ensure that all risk assessment processes undertaken.
  • To work with a case management system, databases and normal office IT systems
  • To adopt, promote and encourage a positive and hardworking culture within the department
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information
  • Adhere to and to promote compliance to the firm’s policies, practices and procedures, to legislation applicable to the profession and to any relevant quality standards
  • To ensure that 90% of risk assessments are completed within 1 hour
  • To ensure that 95% of risk assessments are undertaken within stated time SLA
  • To support in arranged calibration sessions
  • To ensure all Risk & Governance policies are followed as per business policy.

 

You will have experience of:


  • Working in a law firm or similar environment
  • A wide range of Personal Injury experience across different areas (i.e.Military, ELPL, OL, Travel, Clinical Negligence, Industrial Disease, RTA)
  • Making decisions on the likely success of a claim and value of a claim with limited information
  • Working in a regulated environment with appropriate record keeping and quality standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Committed organised and dedicated – able to cope with pressure
  • Excellent IT Skills with the ability to work with a Case Management System, databases / excel and normal office IP systems
  • Clear and empathetic communication skills
  • Team spirit and can-do positive attitude
  • Effective relationship management
