Simpson Millar are a national law firm, recognised as a Leading Law Firm within the Legal 500. We are currently seeking to add a CIPD qualified and experienced HR Business Partner to our growing team. As a firm, our practice areas are split into 3 defined specialities, and you will be responsible for managing the people agenda within one area.

This will involve day to day support of the Practice Area Heads and Heads of Department on short to medium planning and strategy. You’ll need to be a strong influencer, have excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to maintain consistency in everything the firm does; in addition to experience with complex ER matters, policy and process, and organisational culture management.   

As an overview the role will include:

  • Acting as the performance improvement driver and provoke positive changes in the people management
  • Providing input on workforce and succession planning as well as restructure
  • Conducting regularly meetings with Heads of Departments to maintain awareness on culture and financial position
  • Working in partnership with the recruitment team to deliver resource plan for all areas of the business
  • Analysis of HR data to recommend to Head of BP key trends
  • Coaching and Supporting all HR Advisors with ER matters in partnership with HR Manager
  • Collaborating with HR colleagues to develop policies and processes
  • Supporting with development and implementation of the People Plans for each Practice area and continue to support to ensure that they remain a key management tool
  • Owning complex ER matters to ensure these are managed commercially and effectively within policy.
  • Working with Head of HRBP to lead on M&A work

Your experience will likely come from working within a complex business previously, potentially although not necessarily from within the legal sector.

Above all, you’ll need to have a caring but commercial attitude, be IT literate, highly organised, and be keen to develop your experience within a rapidly growing, changing and challenging business.

Although the role is advertised as Leeds based, the role is working from home, with occasional travel to our offices around the country.
