PDI Technician / Machine Preparation Engineer

Are you experienced with heavy plant or HGVs and confident working with hydraulics and electrics?
We’re looking for a hands-on engineer or technician with a strong mechanical background to join the Machine Preparation Centre at our client’s busy Immingham depot. Whether you’ve worked on excavators, dump trucks, agricultural kit or HGVs – if you can prep and fine-tune machinery, this could be the ideal next step.
You’ll be part of a skilled team preparing brand-new construction equipment for delivery – installing kits, checking systems, and making sure everything is working perfectly before it goes out the door.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on heavy plant machinery
Install hydraulic kits, lighting systems, safety features, and optional extras
Follow build sheets and wiring diagrams
Complete functional and cosmetic checks
Record work using digital checklist systems
Requirements:
Proven experience working with heavy plant, HGVs, or agricultural machinery
Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Safety-first approach and attention to detail
NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Plant, HGV, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
Shift Pattern (Rotates Weekly):
Week 1:
Monday to Wednesday: 6:00am–2:30pm
Thursday: 6:00am–2:00pm
Friday: 6:00am–1:30pm
Week 2:
Monday to Wednesday: 1:30pm–10:00pm
Thursday: 1:00pm–9:00pm
Friday: 12:30pm–8:00pm
