Customs Bureau Clerk

DHL Global Forwarding UK are looking for a Customs Bureau Clerk to join their fast-paced Customs Team in Hayes, Greater London. The position is full time, permanent working Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm with an immediate start subject to referencing and employment checks.

Your role as a Customs Bureau Clerk

  • Transmit declarations to HMRC to align with customer requirements and internal KPIs
  • Deliver frequent communication to customers, freight forwarders, hauliers and DHL internal stakeholders, promoting excellent customer service and engagement
  • Manage critical customer requirements and problem solve, where necessary
  • Maintain all customs entries files both electronically and hard copies for certification
  • Handle high volumes of queries from the Global Service Centre (GSC) and manage responses from HMRC and other UK Governmental Departments regarding declaration responses
  • Update internal systems in line with customer/HMRC requirements

About you – you will need

  • Knowledge of UK customs requirements including required documentation
  • Computer skills including basic-intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional customer service skills with strong communication with your team and external stakeholders
  • To be process driven with great attention to detail and understanding of the importance of compliance
  • Custom entry experience, desirable
