DHL Global Forwarding UK are looking for a Customs and IT Specialist to join their fast-paced Customs Team in Hayes, Greater London. These positions are full time, permanent, Monday to Friday - 9am to 5:30pm, some flexibility is required. SALARY NEGOTIABLE, based on experience.


Your role as a Customs and IT Specialist

Along with the main Customs Clerk duties highlighted below, this role will also focus on being an IT Specialist for the team, providing support with IT maintenance and customer & operational solutions.

  • Co-ordinate customs entries for the shipment of goods including, managing full custom declarations for both imports and exports within strict timescales
  • Transmit declarations to HMRC to align with customer requirements and internal KPIs
  • Deliver frequent communication to customers, freight forwarders, hauliers and DHL internal stakeholders, promoting excellent customer service and engagement
  • Manage critical customer requirements and problem solve, where necessary
  • Maintain all customs entries files both electronically and hard copies for certification
  • Handle high volumes of queries from the Global Service Centre (GSC) and manage responses from HMRC and other UK Governmental Departments regarding declaration responses
  • Update internal systems in line with customer/HMRC requirements

 


About you – you will need


  • A good understanding of IT, including advanced Excel skills, data relationships, file transfer protocol (FTPs), networks etc.
  • Experience working within an administrative environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills with strong communication with your team and external stakeholders
  • To be process driven with great attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of compliance
  • Knowledge of UK customs requirements including required documentation is highly desirable but not essential
