Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design and development of safety-critical aerospace equipment, supporting products that have saved over 7,800 lives worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce innovative mechanical design solutions for new and existing products.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
- Support products throughout the full engineering lifecycle, from concept through to production and in-service support.
- Conduct engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design investigations.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Stress Analysis, Test, and Production teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
- Support prototype builds, qualification testing, and product validation activities.
- Investigate design issues and implement corrective actions where required.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
About You:
We are looking for a proactive and motivated engineer with a passion for design and problem-solving. You will enjoy working in a collaborative environment and be comfortable contributing to technically challenging projects.
Essential:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in mechanical design within an engineering environment.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, or other safety-critical industries.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Understanding of design for manufacture and assembly principles.
- Experience supporting testing and validation activities.
- Familiarity with Siemens NX or similar CAD packages.
