Finance Controller

37.5 hours per week | Mon – Fri | 09:00 to 17:30 | Chertsey / Hybrid working available

You will play a critical role in managing financial operations for a dedicated product area within the business (Air or Ocean Freight, Customs etc). Duties include forecasting, budgeting, and P&L reviews for our UK branches and operational departments.

This is an entry-level/graduate role, reporting to the Senior Finance Controller and working within a team of 5, this role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career in finance/accounting.

Your role as a Finance Controller

  • Oversee month-end closes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Collaborate with department heads and business units to gather relevant data for the forecasting and budgeting processes
  • Facilitate monthly profit and loss (P&L) reviews with stakeholders
  • Monitor Product / Branch performance, driving root-cause analysis on KPI’s such as profitability, cost of sales, variance analysis, GP/EBIT conversion
  • Respond to queries and requests for financial information from DHL’s European and Global teams
  • Communicate regularly with key stakeholders, including the Head of Business Products, Country Accounting Team, Regional/Global Product Controlling Team, Head of Sales/Sales Team, and regional directors and branch managers

About you - you will have:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or at the final stage of exams
  • University Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent
  • A valid UK driving licence as travel within the UK is required (1 or 2 times a month)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
