Description & Requirements

We currently have a vacancy for a Buyer within the Supply Chain & Procurement team based from our Customer Support Centre in Aston, Birmingham.

You will be responsible for ensuring the lowest cost of purchase balances with quality and delivery on goods not for resale, by taking spend to market, ensuring purchasing controls, monitoring key suppliers, and assuring company policies are being followed.

You will act as the single point of contact for all issues relating to suppliers for the business.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Manage spend within non resale categories, influencing spend of £30 million.
  • Source, evaluate and select new suppliers to meet tactical needs and adhering to company standards.
  • Ensure functional compliance by the business to the Procurement Policy & Procedure, influencing the correct direction of spend.
  • Execute Bid processes to select and manage vendors and report to management on the outcomes of the selection process.
  • Ensure effective and efficient processes and procedures for supplier introduction or contractual or commercial amendments.
  • Liaise between Legal Department and supplier as part of the contracting mechanism to produce a final contractual document acceptable to both parties.
  • Manage and ensure costs are kept to a minimum whilst providing the most appropriate and up to date product and service costs.
  • Act as a single point of contact for day to day purchasing issues raised by the business.

Building relationships is key to this role, as you will need to engage with all relevant business areas, the UK Procurement Head, the European Procurement Team and key contacts within Michelin.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience of working in a busy Procurement team and will be part CIPS qualified. You will have excellent negotiating skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

This role will suit a hands-on individual being the sole point of contact, therefore a positive can-do attitude is required along with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
